Google Business Profile · Updated August 2026
The map spot that rings.
When a homeowner searches your trade, Google answers with a map and three businesses. Whoever's up there gets the call — and being up there costs nothing per lead. That free listing is the highest-leverage asset most contractors own and most contractors neglect. My job is making yours the one that rings.
See where you rank — freeWhat actually moves the map
The 2026 expert rankings of local search factors are blunt, so I'll be too:
- — Your primary category is the single biggest lever."Plumber," not "Contractor." The drywall category on Maps, even though the ads have none. Exact beats broad, every time.
- — Reviews are the lever you control: how many, how recent, how steadily they arrive. The system that wins is a habit — ask at the truck, every job, and reply to every one. Reviews that name the work ("water heater," "panel upgrade," "repaint") help you surface for those exact searches.
- — Photos sell the job before the call. Real work, real crew, refreshed with the season. Never stock — homeowners can smell it.
- — Posts are near the bottom of the factors list. If an agency's Business Profile deliverable is "we post twice a week," you're paying for the thing the ranking studies put dead last-tier. I put that effort into reviews and photos, where it pays.
- — Accuracy is policy safety. Exact business name (no keyword stuffing — the top suspension trigger), true hours, honest service area. Boring, and it protects the asset everything else depends on.
What that looks like, live

The month-by-month story behind those three images is in the case study.
Where the profile fits
The map brings the free calls; Local Services Ads buy the rest of the schedule, and the website catches everyone who clicks past the map. How the mix lands depends on your trade — find yours here.
